PSP Web Browser

Is it true that there is a PSP Web Browser? You bet there is. It isn't much of one, and it's pretty limited as to what it can do, but if you have the time to set up your own portal, you can make Wipeout Pure become an honest to goodness PSP Web Browser. So, how do you get a PSP Browser? Well, right now, your only choice is to buy Wipeout Pure. Soon, hopefully, someone will port a free browser or maybe a company who does handheld browsers like NetFront etc, will make one. Only time will tell.

Until then, get your PSP Web Browser by buying the game, and read on.

This original psp hack was done by roto at mozy.org/psp. He subsequently sold his PSP, for what reason, he explains on his site. I have condensed his steps down to make it easy for you to get your PSP Browsing the web.

PSP Browser

  1. Boot up PSP
  2. Go to Network Settings (far left and down)
  3. Go into Infrastructure Mode
  4. Setup a connection. Call it whatever you want.
  5. Choose Custom in Address Settings
  6. Leave IP Address Setting to Automatic
  7. Set DNS Setting to Manual
  8. Set your Primary DNS to 208.42.28.174 and Secondary to 0.0.0.0
  9. Set your Proxy Server to Do Not Use
  10. Save it with X
  11. Launch Wipeout
  12. Go to the Downloads menu and choose the connection you made earlier
  13. Up will pop the Engadget portal
  14. Browse the web on PSP!

PSP Browser with your own Portal

  1. Download any web server for your PC. There are many free web servers.
  2. Download a DNS server, like TreeWalk DNS (http://ntcanuck.com/)
  3. Setup DNS Zone to use your computer's IP address as ingame.scea.com. Your computer's IP address can be found with the command "ipconfig." For more information see this link
  4. Change the connection above to use your IP as the Primary DNS
  5. Put a index.html file into a folder called "wipeout" on your Web server.
  6. Put whatever you want in the index.html file, including links, input tags, etc.
  7. Follow directions above after you launch Wipeout and you'll have you'll be Browsing the web on your PSP!
